One of the most important public health concerns is "Environmental Public Health." The goal of the Environmental Health is to strive to prevent illness, injury and death related to environmental causes.

Scurry County Health Department provides environmental public health services to Scurry County, the townships of Hermleigh, Ira, Fluvanna, & Dunn.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Section are as follows:

Food sanitation & protection and inspection (Restaurant/Food Establishments); Grocery Stores; Mobile vendors; Temporary Vendors; Daycare Licensing Inspection; Public Health nuisance abatement; on-site septic inspections; rabies health authority; collection of water samples.
